Cooling System Repair

Cooling System Repair Experts in Nevada, TX

At Richardson’s Auto Care, we have been the Automotive Cooling System experts in Dallas, TX for over 20 years and recently located to Nevada, TX. We have the tools and expertise to diagnose and repair any problems with your car’s cooling system.

Radiators: At Richardson’s Auto Care, we have all the tools and adapters required to pressure test all modern cooling systems, allowing us to pinpoint even the smallest coolant leaks from your radiator. Many of today’s aluminum and plastice radiators are designed to be lightweight and efficient, but must be replaced rather than repaired if they develop a leak. We stock radiators for most modern vehicles, and can have almost any radiator we don’t stock on the same day.

Water Pumps : A failing water pump may cause a coolant leak or a horrible noise, and on modern engines with timing belt driven pumps, a pump malfunction can actually cause the timing belt to come off, resulting in serious engine damage. We have over 20 years of experience replacing water pumps, and can get yours replaced quickly with a quality part. We use only OE-approved water pumps, made by the same companies who made your car’s original pump, such as AC Delco or Aisin. If your water pump is timing belt driven, we will generally recommend a complete timing belt service to make sure the repair is completed thoroughly.

Belts and Hoses: Today’s cars use belts and hoses made of new rubber and silicone compounds, and they generally last much longer than belts and hoses did just 15-20 years ago. The new rubbers and silicone products generally wear without drying and cracking, so a worn belt may fail without ever showing visual cracks beforehand. We can check your belts and hoses for wear, and replace them if needed with new parts made of the same quality materials.

Coolant: Not too long ago, almost all antifreeze was green and interchangable. Today, there are over a dozen coolant types commonly used by auto manufacturers, each with their own chemical makeup, that are not interchangable. Using the wrong coolant or mixing coolant types can damage your car’s engine and cooling system by causing seals to leak, parts to corrode, or coolant to actually turn into a gel and clog the system. For this reason, we stock over a dozen different coolants, and use only your car manufacturer’s speified coolant in your vehicle any time we have to flush, refill, or top off your system. Most automakers use a long-life coolant designed to last 50,000 to 100,000 miles under normal conditions, and the coolant should be flushed following your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations during your factory scheduled maintenance service.
